Ridgway Street Will Be Main Departure Point For New City Buses
When the new transport companytakes over the city passenger services in August, the main point of departure will be in Ridgway Street, opposite the Chief Post Office. Buses will use the narrow portion of the street as far as the intersection with St. Hill Street, leaving the wide portion of Ridgway Street for the parking ot cars as at present. This was decided on by the Wanganui City Council at its monthly meeting last night, acting on a recommendation by the Works Committee, which has already conferred with representatives of Greyhound Buses, Ltd., on the subject. Also before the council was a recommendation that it enter into an agreement with the company for the sale of its Ford and Bedford buses, together with accessories at a price to be fixed by two valuers, one representing the council and the other Greyhound Buses, Ltd. The report was adopted.
