Southland Retains The Peter Dawson Soccer Shield

INVERCARGILL, Last Night (P.A.) Southland, by defeating South Canterbury by 5 to 3 in a fast spectacular soccer challenge, retained the Peter Dawson Shield at the Invercargill showground on Saturday. The visitors were unlucky not to equalise because they showed superior combination on occasions, but were not so steady as the Southland team. The outstanding players were Deslandes (Southland), and Wilson and Burtenshaw (South Canterbury).
