COLORADO BEETLES THREATEN POTATOES IN CHANNEL ISLANDS
LONDON, May 17 (Reed. 7.20 pm). Alarm has been caused in lhe Channel Islands, where the early season's potato crop, valued at £600,000, is threatened by Colorado beetles. Hundreds of beetles which ha;’, flown from the Continent were picked up on thr Jersey and Guernsey beaches, where they were destroyed before thr. coulo penetrate furl lie? inland.
