Annual Meeting Okoia Women’s Division
The annual meeting of the above was held last week in the Okoia Hall, when Mrs. G. Gardner presided over a good attendance of members. Various accounts, correspondence and other business were discussed and a hearty welcome was given Mrs. D. Jackson, of Waverley, provincial president, who was the guest speaker for the afternoon and whose inspiring and interesting address was received with applause. Tea, and a social half hour preceded the annual meeting, over which Mrs. Jackson presided. The president’s report showed satisfactory finance and an excellent membership. Although attendance at meetings varied a great deal owing to counter attractions and members living long distances apart, they always rallied round well when called upon for any special effort, and all were congratulated for their splendid help ing raising a large sum for the Residental Nursery building fund recently Donations had been given to the Leper Fund, Okoia School, Jubilee Home and Rest Home and members were thanked for co-operation in many ways during the year. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. G. Gardner (unanimously re-elected); vice-presidents, Mrs. Bland, Mrs. Oliver, Mrs. A. N. McLeod; hon. secretary. Mrs Herlihy; hon. treasurer, Mrs. R. Christie; delegate to provincial. Mrs C. Richardson. There were several invitations for house meetings from members during the winter, and it was decided to hold the May meeting at the residence of Mrs. Beattie next Tuesday at the usual time, and there will be a "bring and buy” stall at every meeting. A happy meeting closed with votes of thanks to Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Gardner.
