TAIHAPE HOGGET FAIR
Messrs. Wright Stephenson & Co. Ltd. repoit as follows:—A total yarding of 14,000 hoggets comprising approximately KOOO wether hoggets. 4000 ewe hoggets. 1000 b.f. hoggets and 1000 grown wethers. The exceptional feed conditions experienced in the Taihape district this season was reflected in the outstanding quality of the yarding throughout. As usual this fixture attracted a particularly large attendance. buyers coming from Taranaki. Wanganui. Hawke’s Bay. Waikato, King Country and Manawatu. Competition in all sections was exceptionally keen and values In practically all cases Roared well above vendors expectations. Top price in the ewe hoggets was obtained by Mr. Geo. Gibb* for a beautiful line of 146 well bred, well grown early shorn sheep which realised 56 3. The first twelve pens of ewe hnggets offered all made better than 50/-. Mr R. H. Floyd topped the wether hogget section with a line of 179 early shorn, well grown good condloned hoggets which after spirited bidding made 44 1.
