Magistrate’s Court RAETIHI, Last Night (OC).—At the monthly sitting of the Court, C L. Bradley was charged with failing to keep as far as reasonable to the left, whilst driving a light truck on a highway. As a result of his neglect his vehicle collided with a taxi car travelling in the opposite d.rection, and both vehicles suffered considerable damage. lln pleading guilty to the charge, Bradley said that he was negotiating a sharp bend and the steep camber on the road had the effect of forcing him over to the centre on to the oncoming car. The magistrate considered there was a degree of negligence and im- ■ posed a fine of On a further charge of having no warrant of fitness for his vehicle, Bradley was fined 10s with costs. APRIL RAINFALL. Although rain fell on 11 days during April the month will go down in the records as one with an extraordinary amount of bright sunshine. The total rain recorded was 3.66 inches, the wettest day being the sth of the month, when 1.12 was registered. The April fall for the previous five years is: 1949, 5.48; 1948, 6.31; 1947, 4.19; 1946, 5.31; 1945, 4 98. I For the lour months of the present I year the rainfall has aggregated 16.31 inches, as against 19.44 for the same | period of 1949.
