TAIHAPE WEDDING Peed—Howie

On March 12, St. David's Presbyterian Church, Taihape, was the scene of a marriage uniting the descendants of pioneering families of the Taihape and Rangitikei districts. Thp bride was Maggie Barbara, youngest' daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Howie, Kaka Road, Taihape, and the bridegroom, Willian Sydney, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Peed, West Shore, Napier. The Rev. R. M. Rogers officiated and Mrs. Gordon was organist. Scarlet dahlias and white gladioli were the decorations in the church.

Escorted by her father 1 / bride wore a gown oi off-white Sa...i with long train edged round with a pleated net frill. A yoke of fine net and applique flowers was finished at the neck with a small ruffle and a shSrt basque was also appliqued. Her long heirloom veil of net, embroidered in each corner was he'd in place with a small ruffle of net finished at each side with a cluster of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of white roses, gladioli and lilies.

The bride was attended by her cousin, Miss "Rosamund (Pixie) Lilburn, as chief bridesmaid, Miss Nancy Peed, sister of the bridegroom, ana two small flower girls, Florence Small and Barbara Morton, nieces of the bride. The bridesmaids were attired in heavy magnolia satin frocks with draped off-the-shoulder necklines, and matching folds at the hiplines caught, at the back in bustle effect, and very full skirts. They wore scarlet nerines on their head's and carried bouquets of scarlet dahlias, gerberas and nerines. Dainty frocks of yellow marquisette with full circular skirts and small yellow flowers sewn into th frills at the hems and on the puff sleeves were worn by the flower girls. Circlets of yellow daisies adorned their heads. Mr. Ron Gordon was best man and Mr. John Peed (brother of the bridegroom) was groomsman. The ushers were Messrs John Revell and lan Gordon.

The reception was held in a marquee on the lawn at the bride's parents' home, the tables being decorated with bowls of scarlet and white flowers.

For going away the bride chose a moss green angora ensemble suit and brown accessories. The family homestead of the Peeds, formerly occupied by the bridegrooms father and pioneered by his grandfather, at Tiriraukawa, Taihape, is to-be the home of Mr.and Mrs. W. S. Peed.
