Work Of Westminster And Chelsea Nurses; Talk By Mrs. Fell
At a meeting of the executive of the Wanganui Red Cross, Mrs. M. A. H. Fell, who returned recently from England, told members something of the work done by the Westminster and Chelsea District Nurses for indigent nurses and those in need of a little extra comfort. Speaking on the question of sending food to Britain, Mrs. Fell explained that many of these people suffered from various ailments and required different foods. When bulk food arrives at depots there is no one there to distribute it according to the needs of the recipients—for Instance a tin of food is given to a person suffering from diabetes and is unsuitable for his or her use. The Westn inster and Chelsea District Nurses go daily to give treatment to these people in their homes and knowing theii ailments can distribute the food -.oidingly. They all need something a httle bit extra, said Mrs. Fell, who ' rested to members to send the • • 1 to the District Nurses and they give the fod where they know it ,*eded. Before she left London, Fell arranged for some food for nurses to take into the homes, and • lias since had letters of grateful aanks from the recipients. The Red Jross executive decided to forward food as suggested.
