N.Z. RUGBY UNION APPOINTS SELECTORS
WELLINGTON. Last Night (P.A.) —Two former All Blacks, Messrs. T. C. Morrison and M. F. Corner are now New Zealand selectors, Mr. Morrison being chairman and convener. Appointments made by the Council of lhe Rugby Union tonight were:
New Zealand: Messrs. T. C. Morrison (Wellington) convener, M. F. Corner (Auckland), and A. E. Mars* lin (Otago). . North Island: Messrs. T. C. Morrison (Wellington), convener, M. F. Corner (Auckland), and J. Finlay (ManawatuL South Island: A. E. Marslin (Otago) convener, R. R. Masters (Canterbury), and V. Goodall (Buller).’ Mr. A. St. C. Belcher was re-appoint-ed chairman of the council.
Mr. S. S. Dean was appointed the union’s representative on the New Zealand Olympic Games Association. Following a communication from the New Zealand Referees’ Association it was decided to circularise the unions that it was wrong for a hooker to pack down in the scrum with his feet crossed, and that a trip is only with the foot and that ankle tapping is legal. The council is to meet in Wellington early in August to confer with Mr. E. Watts Moses, representative of the International Board and a past president of the English Rugby Union. A representative of the Australian Union is to be invited to the conference.
