SOCIAL AND PERSONAL Mrs F. Wood, Alma Read, has returned from Auckland. . Miss Buckingham, matron of the Wanganui Public Hospital, visited Palmerston North for the conference of the Registered Nurses' Association. Mrs Livermore, of Taihape, is the guest of Miss A. M. Symes,’Hawera. Mrs A. J. Delves, Ingestrc Street, and her sister, Mrs Pumfrey, leave tomorrow for a few days’ visit to Rotorua. Mrs W. Fibbes, of Pitt Sreet, Wanganui, will leave Auckland by flyingboat on Monday to visit her son in Melbourne, whom she has not seen, for 12 years. Mrs H. Treadwell and Miss Nell Treadwell, of Paraparaumu, have been the guests of Mrs G. McLeod, Pprkes Avenue. St. John’s Hill. Mrs H. O. Taylor, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs J. H. Salmon, St. John's Hill, for the Collins-O'Neill wedding, which takes place today. Miss Marie Louise Nihotte is a Wellington visitor to Wanganui for the Collins-O’Neill wedding and is the guest of Mrs H. L. Widdowson, Heads Read.
Mrs E. Tinker, of Invercargill, and her daughter, Mrs John Plunkett, jnr., of Dunearn, Southland, are the guests of Mrs Allan Tinker, Wilson Street. Miss N. J. Fitch, headmistress of Adelaide Correspondence School, South Australia, is the only woman overseas delegate to the third international conference of correspondence tutors. The conference, which is the first to be held in New Zealand, opened in Christchurch this week and will continue until April 27. Mrs A. H. Gallean (Dunedin), Mrs V. Collins and Mrs L. J. Collins (Tomaru), Mrs J. P. Donnelly and Mrs W. Donnelly (Christchurch), Mrs P. J. Ryan, Mrs A. J. Hyams, Mrs Guy Cross, Miss O'Neill (Wellington), and Mrs G. Reid (Hastings), who are out-of-town visitors to Wanganui for the Collins-O’Neill wedding today, are guests at Foster's Hotel. Miss M. I. Lambie, the retiring Di-rector-General of Nursing in New Zealand, was farewelled by members of the Registered Nurses' Association at an evening gathering held in connection with the annual conference in Palmerston North on Thursday night. Fifteen members of the Wanganui branch travelled to Palmerston North for the gathering. A presentation was made to Miss Lambie. Miss Elaine Bosher returned on Saturday last from a holiday visit to the South Island. Farewell parties were held in her honour and she has left for Hamilton, where she takes up the position of manageress of a photographic studio. She will be missed in i social and sporting circles in the River City, where she has resided for two years. Miss Bosher is a daughter of Mr and Mrs H. L. Bosher, Mataroa, Taihape. Farewell and Presentation To farewell Mr Bob Walls, who has been a member of St. Paul’s Bible Class, Sunday School and Badminton Club, and is leaving to take up a position in Auckland, a tea party arranged by the comoined classes and club was held prior to the church service last Sunday evening. The Rev. A. C. McLean presided, and in speaking of the service given by Mr Walls said how sorry they were to lose him, but their loss would be Auckland's gain. Mr Walls was presented with a Stewart tartan travelling rug. He leaves this evening for the north.
