LONDON, March 22.—A member of the British Cabinet, Mr. Hugh Dalton, officially told the council of Europe General Affairs Commission in Strasbourg today, that Commonwealth countries had backed Britain’s policy of co-operating with Western Europe. Mr. Dalton read a Foreign Office letter saying that the Colombo Conference had found “nothing incompatible” in this policy, and at the same time maintaining traditional links between Britain and the Commonwealth.
