Boy Drowned In The Hutt River

WELLINGTON, Last Night (PA).— A two-year-old boy was accidentally drowned in the Hutt River at Belmont this afternoon. He was: Desmond Kenneth Hawkins, son of Mr. and Mrs K. E. Hawkins, 75 Hall Crescent. Lower Hutt. His parents fbok Desmond and their baby to the river. The parents went for a swim, leaving the children on the bank. Mr. Hawkins came from the water to see the baby higher up the bank than Desmond. Whe n he turned round Desmond had disappeared. The body was found shortly afterward by some other children 300 or 400 yards downstream. Artificial respiration was applied but the child was dead on arrival at the hospital.
