NEW ZEALANDER ONE OF SEVEN SPENDING A LONELY CHRISTMAS

OTTAWA, Dec. 20 (Recd. 6 pm). —A New Zealander, Mr. Joni Jolnes, of Auckland, is among seven men who are spending the world's loneliest Christmas. They are weal hen: men stationed at an Arctic outpost at Mouldbay in Canada's North-west Territory and 1600 miles north of Edmonton.

The men are watching anxiously for a supply plane which is carrying Christmas mail and parcels for them. The plane got to within 40 minutes’ flying time of the outpost on its last attempt, but was forced back by bad weather. The men’s only contact with the civilised world is through an amateur radio operator near Edmonton. He relayed several hundred Christmas messages to and from the outpost.,
