URGENT NEED FORA GRANDSTAND AT WAVERLEY DOMAIN

WAVERLEY, Last Night (OC).— The need for a grandstand in the Waverley Domain was stressed at a recent meeting of the Waverley Sports Association, and it was agreed that Messrs Dunford and Bilton wait, on the next meeting of the Waverley Chamber of Commerce with a view to seeing what can be done in the matter.

Three new members, Messrs A. W. Lane, H. G. Slater and John Alexander, were elected to the association, and the following officers were appointed:— Patron, Mr A. M. Elmslie; president, Mr W. F. Alexander; vice-presi-dents, Messrs D. Lupton and T. Lupton; marshal, Mr A. J. Larsen; treas urer, Mr N. Bromiley; auditor, Mr F. J. Coleman; chief stewards: horses, Mr D. Lupton; ponies, Mr R. E. Lennox; vegetables and fruit, Mr J. C. Barrow; flowers, Miss H. C. Elmslie; national dancing, Mr E. J. Kelly: school, Mr L. M. Fairbrother; calf riding, Mr W. J. Powell; calf section, Mr E. A. Aiken; gates, Mr W. Potts, car parking, Mr W. J. Jeffries; institute displays, Mr C. J. Dallison; sheep guessing, Messrs C. K. Campbell and W. Hall.

The date of the sports meeting was confirmed as April 1. It was decided to drop the tug-o’-war and substitute a calf-riding competition The hope was expressed that the society would have the co-operation of the Wanganui Amusement Trust.
