Liberalisation Of Trade By Germany With British Dominions

LONDON, Dec. 15 (Recd. 6 p.m.)— The United Kingdom and Western Germany are studying a suggestion that the latter, in return for admission to the United Kingdom system of open general licences, should extend its liberalisation of trade to the British Dominions, says the “Financial Times.”

It continues that the Dominions would thus be able to earn more hard currency, and this would be of benefit to the United Kingdom itself. The United Kingdom and colonies already enjoy German measures of liberalisation.

Discussions of this proposal are on the agenda of a meeting to be held between representatives of the Bank Deutscher Leander, the West German Central Bank and the Treasury and the Bank of England. The meeting will start, soon after the arrival in London of the German officials, probably on Friday.—Special N.Z,P,A. Correspondent.
