NEW CARGO SHIP TO SAIL ON MAIDEN VOYAGE TO N.Z. THIS WEEK

LONDON, Dec. 14 (Recd. Bpm). The third of five new cargo ships of Shaw Savill’s post-war building programme, Persic, sails on her maiden voyage from London on December 16. She carries no passengers and has a cargo capacity of 514,000 cubic feet for refrigerated produce and 220,000 cubic feet for general merchanise.

Her gross tonnage is 13,750 tons, and she has a service speed of 17 knots. The accommodation for officers and crew is described as exceptionally good.—(N.Z.P.A.)
