No Peace Without Food, Says F.A.O. Man
OTTAWA, Dec 13 (Recd 7.40 pm).—The Director-General of the F.A.O. said today that he personally believed nations should give food away if they could not sell it. He added that starving peoples could be taught to grow more food for themselves if United Nations would give his organisation 50,000,000 dollars. This would enable him to expand his staff of technical assistants from 250 to 750 and send them to China, India, Pakistan, Egypt and elsewhere. Mr. Dodd said there coud be no peace without food, no matter how hard the Western World tried to defend itself against war v The F.A.O. at present received 5,000,000 dollars a year from United Nations. The question of increasing the figure to 50,000,000 dollars was being considered.
