AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA).— The Minister of Broadcasting is being asked to make a public statement on the method of selection of the new conductor for the National Sympjony Orchestra. The Auckland Music Council, which represents all the major music sociej ties in the city, decided at a meeting I today to send a letter to the Minister I asking for a statement on three I points. I The Minister is being asked to name I the persons who will be responsible for considering applications and reI commending an appointment, to give ian assurance that the recommenda- ; tion of such competent advisers will [be acted upon, and to state what advice will be taken on the qualifications of applicants, whether from New Zealand or from overseas.
