Prisoner’s Brief Liberty

AUCKLAND, Last Night (P.A.)— A man who escaped from Auckland prison at 11.20 a.m. today was recaptured in Mount Eden tonight. He is Hilton Edward Stanley Smith, aged 26, who was serving a term of one year’s reformative detention. Smith was working in the prison gardens behind a warder's house in Boston Road and apparently climbed through a fence on to the railway track. He was reported to have been seen in the Mount Eden railway yards prior to his recapture,
