WANGANUI COUNTY HAS COLLECTED ONLY £5600 OF CURRENT RATES
Of the £33,500 levied in rates by the Wanganui County Council for the year ending on March 31. 1950, only £5600 has been paid to date, stated the clerk (Mr S. L. Orr) at. yesterday’s meeting of the council. “You can see that we .still have a lot of rates to collect,” he added. The clerk said the debit balance at the bank was £11,949 15s, so that the council was more or less holding its own. During the month the position had been eased by the receipt of a large sum for heavy tiaffic fees.
