PREPARATIONS BEING MADE FOR STAGING OF CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT

Arrangements for carols by candlelight, organised by the Y.M.-Y.W.C.A., to be held in Cook’s Gardens on Christmas Eve, were advanced a further stage at a meeting in the Y.M.C.A. Mrs. R. N. Wilson was chairman. Representatives of choirs from the Church of England, Baptist, Presbyterian, Salvation Army, and Church of Christ were present, in addition to the committee representing the Y.M.Y.W.C.A. Board of Managers. It was decided to order 5000 special candles from Australia through the national Y.M.C.A. and to have 3000 programmes printed. A bold design in red and blue was chosen for the cover design. A committee comprising Miss E. W. Jebson, Mrs. C. M Weir, Messrs. L. R. Francis and C. S. Jeffs was appointed to write the introduction, choose the carols and finalise the lay- ' out of the programme.
