WORKMEN DECLARE THE WORKS OUT OF BOUNDS TO THE MANAGER

LONDON, Nov. 4 (Bee. 6.45 pm). Union officials at the Cargo Fleet Ironworks, near Middlesborough, have declared their workshops out of bounds to their boss, says the “Daily Mail.”

The men have worked out a procedure which, if adopted, will stop the managing-director, Mr. Benjamin Chetwynd Talbot, from setting foot in any part of the works. If he approaches a code of signals is ready to warn 4000 workers to down tools and an allclear to restart will be given when he leaves. If the men agree to the procedure it might mean that Mr. Talbot will virtually be a prisoner in his office.

The move to ban Mr. Talbot began when he refused the Pensions Minister, Mr. Marquand, permission to visit the works tomorrow.
