MARTON, Last. Night (SR).—With five months of the current financial year yet to go, the Rangitikei Countj Council has over-expended its estimates for road maintenance by £5576 and the debit balance, now standing at £64,605, continues to show an increase. There would be only three more ordinary meetings of the council before the end of the financial year, and it appeared that the county would he sailing rather close Io the wind, though it was difficult to say at this stage what the position would be. The county clerk’s statement showed that the estimate foi road expenditure for the year was £59,975, or £34,984 for the first seven months. Of this, £41,56(1, or £5576 above the estimates, had been expended.
