Transom, of Ohotu, who was recently honoured with the presentation of the Good Service Badge in recognition of her many years’ service to the Women’s Institute cause, is a foudation member of the Uliku Institute. She has held the offices of president and secretary for several years while she has also faithfully served the Ruapehu Federation as secretary for several terms. Pleasant Bridge Afternon. A most enjoyable bridge afternoon arranged by the Wanganui East branch of the National Party was held in the N.P. Rooms, Victoria Court, on Tuesday afternoon when players numbered between 40 and 50. Rest Tent For Mothers At Show. A service to the community which will be especially appreciated by mothers of young children is a rest room at the Wanganui A. and P. Show next week-end, to be organised and staffed by the Wanganui Y.W.C.A. It is intended to make the room (a tent furnished with easy chairs) available on Friday afternoon and all day on Saturday. In charge will be women volunteers, assisted by members of the girls’ clubs. The rest room is not a new venture as it was an appreciated feature at earlier shows, organised by the Plunket Society and the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. This year it will be held in conjunction with a stall of articles for sale.
