Record Bowling Entries.
Record entries, totalling 2067, have been received for the Now Zealand bowling championships which will start in Christchurch on January 9. The previous best was Auckland's 2034 for the 1949 championships. The fixture is believed to be the largest sporting event in the British Empire, easily exceeding the only comparable event, the Australian bowling championships. Detailed entries are: Singles 932, pairs 720, fours 415; total 2067.
