Russia Agrees To Hold U.N.O. Assembly In Moscow In 1953

NEW YORK, .Oct. 3 (Rec. 6 pm).—Mr. Vyshinsky agreed that the United Nations could hold a General Assembly in Moscow in 1953, the New York “Times” reported today. The subject was raised at a private dinner at the Soviet delegation’s New York headquarters. Dr. Romulo asked Mr. Vyshinsky point blank whether the 1950 Assembly could convene in Moscow, because the delegates already were talking about temporarily shifting from the United States. Mr. Vyshinsky pondered for a moment and then calmly suggested 1955. The General Secretary of the United Nations, Mr. Trygve Lie, sitting nearby, quickly asked: “Why not earlier than 1955?” Mr. Vyshinsky again pondered and finally replied 1953 would be all right.
