NO DEVELOPMENTS IN STRANGE CASE OF POISONING

AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA).— Detectives who are investigating the death by poisoning of an English immigrant, Mr. Gordon James Pepper, aged 23, at a boardinghonse at Blockhouse Bay, had no new developments to report today. There does not appear to be any motive for a person wanting to harm Mr. . Pepper. Inquiries are being made toward establishing how the dead man came to take the fatal dose and how the poison came to be in the boardinghouse. Mr. Pepper was buried in the returned servicemen’s plot at Waikumete Cemetery this afternoon. A larg number of floral emblems covered the coffin, and the “Last Post” was sounded at the graveside by a bugler. The chief mourners were Mr. Pepper's fiancee, Miss Edna Coward, and her family.
