WEST COAST TO SEEK 1950 DECATHLON ATHLETIC CHAMPS

That the 1950 national decathlon championships should be early in March and that the centre should apply to the N.Z.A.A.A. to stage the events, were decisions reached at the annual meeting of the West Coast (N. 1. Amateur Athletic Centre on Saturday night.

It was decided to hold the West Coast championships at New Plymoutn on December 10.

The following remits were adopted: “That a fully itemised statement of income and expenditure for all championships and overseas visits be drawn up by the N.Z.A.A.A. and forwarded to the council within 28 days of the meeting, failure to do so renderin.; the clubs or centres conducting the meeting liable to forego their percentage of the profit or guarantee.”

“That the annual meeting of the N.Z.A.A.A. be held over two days to save the rushing of business and that a full report of all business conducted be forwarded to all centres with enough copies for clubs within the centre.”

‘‘That the N.Z.A.A.A. insist that at all national championship meetings the run-up in field events receive the same preparation as in track events, and that in wet weather the circles and take-off areas should be covered.”

“That the rule debarring an athlete from competing in any event in his sweat suit be rescinded and that an athlete should be allowed to safeguard his condition in cold weather by the use of any presentable covering.” . The question of issuing suitable pocket badges for meritorious service was supported in a letter from the Auckland Centre. On the motion of Mr. I. Brown, it was decided to leave the matter to the discretion of the delegates to the annual meeting of the N.Z.A.A.A.
