POLICE SEARCH FOR TRUCK
The Wanganui police were searching yesterday for a motor truck which allegedly failed to stop after being involved in a collision with a car on the Great North Road. The search ended, however, when a young man called at the Police Station last night and reported the mishap. The c«r, driven by Mr. E. G. Oliver, of Hawera, was travelling in the direction of Taranaki when it became volued in a collision with a truck which was travelling in the opposite direction. Extensive damage to the car consisted of the right-hand side being torn out. The vehicle had to bo towed away by a breakdown truck. No other persons'were in the car and Mr. Oliver was not injured. Police investigations began early yesterday morning when thev began seeking the driver or owner of the truck. The accident occurred at 12.10 a.m. nea’- thn Now Zealand Friends’ School.
