Wanganui Golf Club’s Week-end Qualifying

Rounds For Club titles

The second qualifying round for the Wanganui Golf Club's senior, middleweight, and junior championships were played at Belmont on Saturday. Scoring generally was not as good as in the first round the previous Saturday, due to a certain extent to the heavy conditions prevailing at present and the lack of sun and wind to dry the ground up. The best rounds in the senior championship were scored by A. L. Tempertgn and B. M. Silk, who both carded 74's. This places Silk at the head of the qualifiers to date, with one round to play, and the best two out of three rounds to count. In the competition for the Powdrell Cup the best gross score for the total of the three rounds, Silk with 143, is six strokes ahead of his nearest opponent. * In the handicap sectiom the best nett scores handed in . on Saturday were returned by S. Powdrell 87-19 68, and R. J. Shaw 89-21—68. With one round to play, competition in this event is very open, several players having opportunities to carry off the captain's prize.
