Women’s Institute Drama Festival; The First Night’s Plays
On Saturday evening in the Kaitoke Hall the Wanganui Federation of Women’s Institutes held its first presentation of three plays in the Drama Festival, There was a large crowd present and the p’ays were well received. The plays were: “Charade," by the Mosston W.L, produced by Audrey Gleeson and played by Winifred Denman. Alice Woods, Ann Cathro, Florence Sears, Kathleen Gallen, and Helen Tipper. “Red Wax,” presented by the Westmere W.T., produced by Hilary Scrymgeour, and the cast comprised Elip Wright, Clarice Aimstrong, Molly Gordon, Edna Laird, Audrey Mclntyre, and Betty Hussey. Another play by Westmere W.1., “Daughters of Invention," had the same cast and was produced by Clarion Armstrong. Next Saturday night the festival will conclude with three plays staged in the Westmere Hall. The adjudicator, Mrs. Patricia McKenzie, of Hawera, will announce the winners after the performance.
