DEMAND FOR SPOT WOOL IN LONDON IS KEEN
LONDON, July 25 (Recd. 6pm).— With Britain’s commercial wool stocks at one of the lowest levels of recent years, and Continental wool textile activity expanding in several directions. the home and overseas demand for spot wool in London is exceptionally keen this week and prices generally are against buyers compared with last week, states the International Wool Secretariat special news service. In contrast with certain other textile raw materials which come from dollar countries, wool is fortunate in being a sterling raw material and markets in wool and intermediate products are singularly undisturbed by currency and economic uncertainties. The market is dominated entirely by demand in relation to the available and prospectively available supplies, and is regarded as very strong. Firms able to quote for approximate November delivery ask: Seventies A, 115 d; seventies B, HOd; sixty-fours A, 10?? sixty-fours B, IOOd to lOld; sixties. 91d to 92d; fifty-eights. 76d; fifties, 40d; forty-eights, 38d; forty-sixes 37d.—Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.
