Catholics Told It Is A Sin To Read Any Communist Publication
NEW YORK, July 24 (Rec. 6 pm). —Catholics in New York were told today that it is a sin to read the Communist “Daily Worker.” The Reverend Edwin Broderick, in a sermon at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, explaining the Pope’s recent order of ex-communicating Catholics who follow Communism, said: “Catholics sin grievously if they read a Communist publication, even for information, professional reasons, or for curiosity. There is no place in the church for religious centaurs, for collaborators, equivocators, appeasers, temporizers, straddlers, deluded professional liberals, and philosophical carpetbaggers.”
