Attention is drawn to an advertisement in this issue giving the winners of competitions held in connection with the annual wool display of the Taihape branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. A feature of the event was the programme of musical items contributed by Misses B Addis (violin) and E. Addis (piano), who contributed both classical and light music. When a competitor in the ladies’ golf match between Taihape and Waimarino received a particle of mud in her eye she received prompt medical attention from a local doctor who happened to be handy at the time and quickly removed the obstruction. The incident occurred on No. 4 tee, by the clubhouse. A local resident posted a letter at Taihape early on Monday morning and later in the day requested that it be returned to him, but was informed that this was not possible, as once a letter has been deposited in the mail box it cannot be recovered by the sender, and must be forwarded to the addressee. Several players suffered minor injuries in Saturday’s Rugby matches but fortunately nobody was seriously hurt. A Huia player was ordered off in the last few minutes of the senior match between Huia and Utiku Old Boys.
