First Meeting Of Licensing Commission To Be Held Today

WELLINGTON, Last Night (P.A.) —The first meeting of the Licensing Control Commission recently set up as the principal authority controlling the liquor trade, will be held on June 1. The initial intention is that it will then decide its policy within the terms of the Licensing Amendment Act. The Commission comprises Mr. A. M. Goulding (chairman), Colonel B. Barrington, and Mr. L. C. Nisbet. The Commission’s duties will include the general supervision of all licensing committees, the review of the distribution of licences, the determination of the numbers of new licences to be issued, and many other matters connected with licensing.
