DOPING OF HORSES
A.J.C. Savs Lot Of Fuss Over Nothing SYDNEY, May 30.—Police inquiries into the doping of racehorses have taken a new turn with the discovery that the central figure in the alleged conspiracy has left Australia by air. The police believe that the man who was taken off the ship is now on his way to Britain. , H e was previously employed in a hotel as an unskilled worker, but is understood to have accumulated considerable wealth as a result of certain turf transactions. The police say that another fortnight may elapse before they take proceedings but that the investigations will result in a big exposure of malpractice on racecourses. The secretary of the Australian Jockey Club, Mr W. N. Parry-Okeden, said that the reports were grossly exaggerated and were “a lot of fuss over nothing.” The club was concerned with two men only and had kept closely in touch with the detectives investigating the activities of these two men.
