HUNTER VILLE NEWS

ANNUAL MEETING OF THE W.D.F.F. The annual meeting of the Hunterville branch of the W.D.F.F. was held in St. Andrew’s Hall recently. Mrs. McAUey presided over a good attendance of members. A welcome was extended to two visitors. The meeting opened with the W.D. song and Creed. The president, in her report gave a review of the year’s activities and in thanking members for their co-opera-tion special mention was made of the capable way in which the secretary and treasurer had carried out their work. The treasurer presented the financial report and balance-sheet and she was thanked for her capable handling of the finances. The resignation of Mrs. H. Meads as secretary was accepted with much regret and a presentation was made to her in recognition of her services and of the good work she had done. Mrs. McAUey was presented with a box of flowers' by Mrs. Weston, and sprays were presented to Mesdames Abel, Morrison, W. Simpson, Walker and Misses McDonald and Meads. Mrs. Morrison presided for the election ol officers which resulted as follows: — President, Mrs. McAUey; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames Carswell, Morrison, Walker and Weston; secretary, Mrs. Still; treasurer, Miss McDonald. Trophies were presented lor the points prizes for the year the winners being: Specimen bloom, Miss Meads; general competition, Miss McDonald. A limerick competition held during the afternoon resulted in many amusing entries. Competition winners for the day were cellophane bags and the winners were: Miss McDonald 1 and 3; Mrs. Still 2. Cellophane hats, Mrs. W. Simpson 1, Miss McDonald 2 and 3. Limerick competition, Mrs. Still; specimen bloom, Mesdames Abel, McDonald and W. Simpson, 5 points each; Miss McDonald, Mesdames Weston and Leaning, 4 points each.

Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Abel, W. Duncan, Kilmister, Scott-Maundrell. The competition for the May meeting is to be bed socks, and Mr. W. O’Brien will give a talk on his recent trip to America.
