NEW SPINNING DEVICE

LONDON, May 3 (Rec. 6 p.m.)— The Yorkshire “Post” says Air ViceMarshall Geoffrey Ambler has invented a new spinning device which is described by experts as the most important development in weaving technique since Hargreaves invented the spinning jenny. Ambler’s device is claimed to eliminate three or four separate operations in worsted spinning as now practised and to be capable of speeding up the present rate of yarn production to a considerable extent. One important aspect of the new invention is that it will not render existing plants obsolete. It is relatively inexpensive and can be fitted to existing machinery. Two beneficial effects of the invention when in commercial use will be to cheapen yarn production and to release labour at present engaged in spinning for other purposes.
