N.Z. Congratulates The New Republic Of Ireland; Wishes It Well
WELLINGTON, Last Night (P.A.) —The hope that the friendly relations existing between New Zealand and the new Republic of Ireland would be fully maintained is expressed in a telegram sent by the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) to the Prime Minister of Eire (Mr. Costello). The telegram reads as follows: “On the occasion of entry into force of the Republic of Ireland Act, in conveying to you and your Government most cordial greetings from the Government of New Zealand, I should like to reaffirm our hope that the friendly relations existing between our two countries will be fully maintained, and that the free association of Ireland with all countries of the British Commonwealth will continue to be marked by close co-operation, mutual confidence and a spirit of goodwill.”
