Wanganui Marist Lose Again In Brennan Cup Tourney
AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA).— Gisborne Marist beat Palmerston North Marist 8-0 in the play-off for the Wooden Spoon in the Spillane Rugby competition this morning. In the Erennan Cup, Hamilton Marist beat Wanganui Marist 14-11. Gisborne, which were narrowly beaten by Wellington on Saturday, were too strong for Palmerston North, but were kept in check in the second half, when there was no score. Patterson and Riley scored for Gisborne, one try being converted by Cleary. In the Brennan Cup game, Hamilton’s points came from tries by J. Dove Fitzgerald and Collins Collins converted one try and kicked a penalty goal For Wanganui, Russell scored two tries and Corliss converted one and kicked a penalty.
