IRAQ WILL GIVE SYRIA FULL MILITARY AID IN EVEN OF AGGRESSION
LONDON, April 18 (Recd 6 pm).— Iraq has assured Syria of full military aid in the event of aggression, says an official statement issued at Baghdad after the return of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri el Said, from a visit to Damascus.
The statement said: “The Iraqi Government has been closely watching the Israeli-Syrian armistice negotions lest the Jews take advantage of the recent coup d’etat in Syria to drive a hard bargain. Our Prime Minister flew to Damascus to assure ’Syria that any Zionist aggression would be considered as aggression against Iraq herself, and that the Iraqi Army would at any time be ready to answer a call of the brotherhood.”
