AUSTRALIAN ATHLETE COMING TO N.Z.
MELBOURNE- March 28 (Recd. 11.10pm)—Ken Knox, Victorian swimmer and field athlete, will go to New Zealand in May for at least ten months. Knox holds the Victorian record of 54.25ec. for 100yds. freestyle and several intermediate titles. He was fourth in the Australian shot, put last year with 43ft. 6in-, throws the discus 141 ft. and clears 6ft. in the high jump. Knox will remain in New Zealand on business until after the Empire Games and will compete in the Games for New Zealand if he has the necessary residential qualifications and is selected.
John Shanahan will accompany Knox 10 New Zealand, but will return after eight weeks for further swimming and training. If selected Shanahan will go to New Zealand later for the Empire Games. Shanahan is the New Zealand breaststroke champion and Australian titleholder.
