WANGANUI CROQUET TOURNEY OPENED IN EXCELLENT WEATHER
The anganui Croquet Association’s annual tournament opened yesterday on the Wanganui Club's lawns in ideal playing weather. Entries are good and a high standard of croquet was displayed. There are a number of visitors from outside centres including Christchurch, New Plymouth, ,\uckland, Wellington, Palmerston North and Ashburton. The following are the results of yesterday's play:— HANDICAP DOUBLES. First Life. First round: Mr. and Mrs. Campbell beat Mr. and Mrs. Burrell, 26-17; Mrs. Mill and Mr. Peters beat i|rs. Remington and Mrs. Scweiters, 26-17; Mrs. Lynch and Mrs. Green beat Mrs Scott and Mr. McClymont, 26-13; Miss Litten and Mrs Owles beat Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Bott, 26-20; Mrs. McDougal and Mrs. Easton beat Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Morgan, 26-23. Second round: Miss Litten and Mrs. Owles beat Mrs. McDougal and Mrs. Easton, 26-23; Mrs. Lynch and Mrs. Green beat Mrs. Hill and Mr. Peters, 26-19. Seconj Life. First round: Mrs. Remington and Mrs. Schweiters beat Mr. Allen and Mrs. Denman, 26-13; Mrs. Marsh and Mrs. Casey lost to Mrs. Harris and Mrs Bott, 18-26; Mrs. Scott and Mr. McClymont beat Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Morgan, 26-15. LEVEL B. First round: Mrs. Grey beat Mrs. Webber, 26-11; Mrs. Partridge beat Miss M. J. Jennings, 26-8; Mrs. McLean beat Mr. Burrell, 26-17. HANDICAP SINGLES.
