Spinster Leaves Large Sum In Will For Starving Cats

LONDON, Jan. 4.—Twentyeight starving cats, spitting and scratching, attacked police who forced their way into the home of 65-year-old ex-schoolteacher spinster, Alice Baldwin, after she had collapsed in her scullery. Some of the cats who shot out of the door did not know what they were missing. It was found that Miss Baldwin, who died before reaching hospital, had left her house as a home and £ll,OOO in her will for the care of stray cats.
The will said: “My own • pets shall be tenderly cared for all their lives,” and called on the Dumb Friends Defence League to carry out her instructions.
