RESULTS OF PLAY LAST SATURDAY Fine, sunny weather contributed to the enjoyment of bowlers at the week-end, conditions being a pleasurable contrast as compared with those ruling a week earlier. From a bowling “tactics” point of view, a wind, termed “tricky," had to be allowed for on most greens. Clubs advanced iheir fours competitions a stage further. The Wanganui club devoted the opportunity to an all-day tournament. An interchange of visits between Marton and the Wanganui Returned Services Club took place. Entries for the Wanganui Christmas tournament closed on Saturday. 45 fours, three less than last vear entering. Results of play on Saturday follow: Wanganui A most enjoyable day was spent on the Wanganui Bowling Club’s greens on Saturday when the first “All Day" tournament of the season was held. Twenty-two full rinks took part, being divided into two sections. “A” section was won by a -ink skipped by Harris. Walker winning the playoff by four points to one. Miwsell’s rink was the outright winner of “B” section with four and a-half wins. In the final nlav off between Mursell's and Walker’s rinks, five ends were played and Mursell won by four points to two. The winning rink comprised Hamilton, W. R. G. Thomson, Cade and Mursell (skip). The four quite deserved their win. having come through the day's play without being defeated, the nearest to a loss being in the first game against Glengarry’s rink which ended in a draw, with 13 points each. The greens were in good order and conditions in the morning were perfect, but a strong westerly wind in the afternoon made accurate play somewhat difficult.
