Government Pays £14,000 Subsidy To Ngarimu V.C. Fund
PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Last Night , (P.A.)—The Minister of Education: (Mr. McCombs), chairman of the Ngarimu V.C. and the 28th Maori I Battalion Scholarship Fund Board, announced today that the Government! had approved the payment of a subsidy of £14,090 on moneys already; raised for the fund. The Minister stated that there had been wide response to the appeal fori donations to the fund and there was' at present £14,600 in hand, while fur-1 ther sums, amounting to £3OOO, were expected shortly. 'rhe Minister stated that from the moneys now in hand it was intended to provide scholarships for Maori pupils as from the beginning of the next school year. Details concerning the scholarships would be announced shortly.
