Treasury Makes Grant Of £7500 To Wanganui Harbour Finances

A grant of £7500 toward its finances was received from the Treasury at yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Harbour Board.

The money is to compensate the board for the loss of revenue sustained through the centralisation of shipping at the main ports. The letter from the Treasury also pointed out that the repairing of the damage to the South Spit is to be classified as a matter of national and local importance and as such, the financing of the work will be expedited.
