Interference Caused By Money Lender In Riccarton Hack Race

Half a mile from home in the second division of the Woolston Hack Handicap at Riccarton on Saturday, Money Lender, the ultimate winner, ran in slightly and caused interference to Lochrea, Extra Flight and Sky High. Again, when making his winning run near the post, Money Lender ran in twice and his rider had difficulty in keeping him on a straight course. At a stewards’ inquiry the patrol steward reported that C. C. Stokes took immediate steps to straighten up his mount. M. J. Wadley, trainer and partowner of Money Lender, reported to the stewards that he was endeavouring to obtain a special bit ro overcome the horse’s wayward habits. No action was taken.
