Permission Repealed For Private Company To Build Harbour Bridge
(P.A.) Parliament Bldgs., June 30. Legislation empowering a company to erect and maintain a bridge across the Waitemata Harbour at Auckland and to impose and collect tolls is Io be repealed bv the Auckland Harbour Bridge Repeal Eifl which was introduced and read a first time in the House of Representatives today. The Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) explained that now the Government had undertaken the responsibility of tho building of the bridge the company had to be compensated. The company had spent between £lO,OOO and £ll,OOO but satisfactory arrangements had been made for all concerned-
