Is A Recession Of Prices For Primary Produce Coming?

<P.A.) Parliament Bldgs., June 30. In the House of Representatives today Mr. W. A. Slieat (Opp., Patea) gave notice to ask the Minister of Agriculture whether the recently published statement by the Director-General of Agriculture, to the effect that he would be "very surprised if the prices for primary produce in this country are maintained for five years without a break," was made with the prior knowledge and approval of the Minister. Mr. Sheat asked whether this opinion was based on information in the Government’s possession as to possible future price movements, and if the DirectorGeneral’s statement was intended as an official warning to the producers of an approaching recession of produce prices?
